The Committee of Management (COM) is made up of parents of children attending Clifton Child Care Co-operative. Parents give on-going responsibility to the COM whose members they elect at their AGM. The COM meets monthly and all members of the Co-op are welcome to attend.

Parents are encouraged to take on roles within the Committee of Management.

The role of the staff at the centre is to ensure that the centre is run on a day-to-day basis in accordance with its policies.

Accountability of the COM to the general membership

Environment Sub-Committee

Clifton has an active Environment Sub-Committee that works to lessen Clifton's environmental footprint. Some of it's achievements to date:

  • For the past three years it has organised an annual Green Travel Day that provides a free breakfast for all and promotes sustainable transport to Clifton
  • It won an Honourable Mention in the 2008 Bicycling Achievement Awards for its promotion of cycling and sustainable transport
  • In 2007 it received a Commonwealth Community Water Grant that resulted in the installation of water tanks that can collect 7,400 litres. The rainwater collected flushes toilets and is connected to the dishwasher, washing machine and taps in the garden
  • In 2009 it has received a grant from the Commonwealth Department of Environment, Water, Heritage and the Arts and Sustainability Victoria to install solar panels
